By preparing your legs i mean you are going to need to work on your legs for a long walks so it is going to make you easier for you.
When you are traveling, you are going to spend as much time you have to explore the place you are visiting, right? Rather than spending moneys on cabs or having to take buses all the time for a short trips, why dont we walk for a good 10-15 minutes to our desired destinations? So, try it out! Light exercises like taking long walks with your dog in the evening, running exercise once a week, or maybe walking home from school instead of using school bus (if that's possible though) will be enough for your legs, so when you travel you dont need to spend too much money because you have strong legs.
It is much more meaningful and memorable if you walk down the street when you travel, watching the local people doing their own activities, seeing the flowers bloom from up-close, feeling the breeze of spring air, and many more.
Beside, strong legs are very useful when you need to catch up for some important events you dont want to miss, or maybe catching up the last train, or maybe when you need to stand in an MRT for 40 minutes because its full of people (HAHA).
Last thing, i recommend running shoes/walking shoes than heels, it doesnt have to be a running shoes/walking shoes, but you need something comfortable for your feet because you are gonna walk the whole day. Wearing heels will hurt your feet at the end of the day, but still the choice is in your hands.
#2 SELFIE STICKS
Of course photos are one of the most important part of traveling. For some people photos are their way to share their stories, for other people taking photos are their hobby.
When you travel with your friends or family, you can ask them to take pictures of you with the most popular statue, building or maybe the most popular person in that country. But what if you travel all alone and you really want to take photos of yourself and the beautiful scenery behind you? or maybe you travel with a group of friends and you dont know how to take a proper group pictures?
A selfie stick is probably the right answer, nowadays you can find it almost everywhere from electronic shops on malls to your favorite online shops for a reasonable price, it ranges from $3-$10. The most expensive ones probably cost $12? Some of them comes with a small hidden button so you dont have to set a timer everytime you want to take photos, but some of them doesnt have this feature, of course this one will cost a lot more cheaper.
But remember dont get too carried away when taking photos, try to enjoy the moment while youre there, dont spend too much time on taking selfies or photos because it is a waste of time. Because time is really important here, 10-15 minutes of taking photos is actually enough and you can spend your free time by looking around or you can use it to visit other place.
#3 BACKPACK
I recommend using backpack than any other type of bags. A backpack bag is very useful, you can put so many important things there, also by using backpack your hands are free from holding anything which you can use them for holding your camera or shopping bags.
Sling bags makes your shoulder hurts at the end of the day if you put too much stuff in there, and tote bag is just a no, because one of my hands are no longer free, so i dont recommend those kind of bags. You dont need a big backpack like the hikers use, you can just use your school backpack.
Try to stuff most important things to your backpack like small umbrella, passport, ID cards, moneys, maps, and drinks so you dont have to carry to much weight on your back. You can also put spare jacket in it just in case the temperature drops.
#4 LANGUAGE
It is best to learn the basic language of the country you will be visiting. When you travel to a non-english speaking country, you cant always depend on your english ability, because not all of them know how to speak english, you are lucky enough to find one.
However, you can start learning how to say hello, excuse me, thank you and basic conversations before you go there. You can also learn how to ask or negotiate so you can use it when you are visiting a traditional market.
Last but not least, learning the language of the country you will be visiting, shows that you respect their culture, you dont have to be fluent at it, im sure they will understand, at least you tried your best. And learning new language is fun, so why not?
#5 SAVE USEFUL INFORMATION
Nowadays, you can find so many useful information everywhere, surfing in the internet on your smartphone is an easy thing to do, right? What is a smartphone if the users arent smart (LOL). Try to search useful information like maps, train routes, trip schedules and save them in one device, so it will be easier for you just in case you need it.
If you already have your trip schedules, try to figure out how are you going to go there and what transportation should you choose. This thing will help you a lot, i guarantee you. Next thing, try to read about the places you are going to visit, like where you can find them, why does it exist(?), how long does it take from where you are staying, who made them, or what events took place there, etc.
Some countries has free download-able apps for train schedules and routes. There, you can find so many useful information, like how long does it takes from this place to other place, when is the last train, what line you should take and many more.
Or if you are not a smartphone-kind of person, you can also buy travel books in the book store, sometime it also comes with a large map and basic language. It is useful too but i still prefer using the smartphone.
